BECOME A FOSTER PARENT AND SAVE A LIFE

Why Foster?

Why foster?

If you have the patience, resilience, and determination to see a dog transform from a fearful and fragile canine to one with a new hope for a life that can lead to successful adoption, please join us.

Fosters are never alone in the process.  Through our Facebook group, and other Social Media outlets, fosters have access to like-minded people in the same situation to compare notes, to ask questions and to have a sounding board of support.

It's not easy and not for the faint of heart. Fostering is a heart-wrenching process that starts with providing a dog with a home-focused atmosphere - to get decompressed and know what it means to be a dog again. This process can take weeks or months so a strong commitment from start to finish is the desired trait.

A fosters responsibility is to take a dog that may be broken or have some issues to make it whole again. Fosters work closely with Pound Hounds to ensure that all medical, behavioral and social issues are addressed and resolved or until a committed adopter is in place to continue the process.

The work is hard, but the payoff is worth everything.  Fosters are the backbone to our rescue.  Without fosters, there are no rescues.  Also all vetting and training costs are paid by the rescue.

Pound Hounds is always looking for both new and veteran fosters to join us!
